Training program for tutoring dyslexic kids

YOUNGSTOWN -- The 32nd Degree Masonic Children's Learning Center of the Valley of Youngstown, 223 Wick Ave., will start a training session in September for adults interested in tutoring dyslexic children.
Qualified trainees need a bachelor's degree and must complete 45 hours of instruction, including two six-hour initial instruction sessions Sept. 10 and 17.
The course will require attendance at nine four-hour monthly Saturday sessions as well as 100 hours of one-on-one tutoring of dyslexic students after school hours.
The training will include lectures, readings, exams and tutor-student observations. The free training will lead to "Initial Certification" in the Scottish Rite Orton-Gillingham program.
Interested candidates should contact Dr. Margaret Biggs at (330) 743-7789.
