Man apologizes for fleeing from police

BOARDMAN -- A Youngstown man apologized for fleeing from police but still faces a charge of failure to comply.
Shortly before 6 p.m. Friday, a police officer tried to stop a Dodge Stratus driven by Kevin Lee Scott, 24, of Bennington Avenue, which the officer spotted on Market Street. Scott had a warrant from Liberty police for failure to appear on traffic charges and a suspended driver's license.
The officer followed Scott to Judson Avenue, where the pursuit ended.
Police said Scott called the dispatch center several minutes later, trying to report that his car had been stolen from Burlington Coat Factory, U.S. Route 224.
Scott then admitted driving the car, and another officer persuaded him to surrender to police.
Scott apologized to the officer he fled from. He was charged with failure to comply, a misdemeanor.
