SHORT-TERM OPPORTUNITIES
American Cancer Society: The Relay for Life events will be May 6-7 in Niles, May 13-14 in Warren and Boardman, and May 20-21 in Liberty. Both walkers and assistants are needed.
Beatitude House (Wine Taste and Auction): Volunteers are needed to help with registration, selling raffle tickets, check out and general set up May 6.
Salvation Army: Workers needed for a clothing drive May 7 at locations in the Austintown Plaza and Poland Giant Eagle.
Streetscape 2005: People are needed to help plant flowers to beautify Youngstown from 8 a.m. to noon June 4.
Join Hands Day: A small group of youths are asked to volunteer on this National Day of Service on May 7 in Boardman.
LONG-TERM OPPORTUNITIES
American Red Cross (Blood services): People needed to assist with registration and the canteen.
Habitat for Humanity: A volunteer is needed to do public relations/marketing; also to help with construction and computer data entry.
Forum Health: Help is needed in the gift shops at Northside Medical Center and Beeghly Medical Center. Also someone is needed to work at the information desk at Northside's emergency room.
Mahoning County Career & amp; Technology Center: Counselors needed to assist with the Summer Enrichment Program day camp, which runs from June 13 through July 15.
Citizens Corps: Volunteers needed who want to become involved in the safety of their community, especially during an emergency or disaster.
St. Michael's Crafters: The women make many items for hospitals and nursing homes. They need donations of yarn and material.
Trumbull County Mobile Meals: People are needed to pack meals and deliver them. One can work once a month or once a week.
Turning Point Counseling Services: Someone is needed to type forms. This can be done anytime during the agency's open hours.
Youngstown Historical Center of Industry and Labor (Steel Museum): Volunteers are wanted to be tour guides. Training is provided.
Children's Museum of the Valley: People are needed to become docents or be involved in receptionist work and general maintenance.
