YOUNGSTOWN -- A story-telling and crafts evening centered around safety issues for children will be held at the Children's Museum of the Valley, from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at 139 E. Boardman St.
Youngstown Reads Early AmeriCorps will be the host.
Children will learn what to do in an emergency, who they should call and how they can prevent accidents. AmeriCorps members will read from books that involved bicycle, fire and traffic safety.

Bindery project
EAST PALESTINE -- A handcraft bindery program will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. May 11 at East Palestine Memorial Public Library. Call (330) 426-3778 to make a 15-minute appointment for a free estimate for having your books or other printed material bound or repaired.
Skin cancer screenings
The American Cancer Society and the Cancer Centers at Humility of Mary Health Partners and Forum Health's Cancer Care Centers will have free cancer screenings this month.

The screenings are avilable to anyone not currently under the care of a dermatologist. The events are linked to National Melanoma/Skin Cancer Detection and Prevention Month.
