ON CAMPUS Jones leads Malone golfers

Allison Lesnett finished up the regular season with a 9-2 record for Dennison University women's tennis team.
CANTON -- The Malone College men's golf team is ranked 10th in the latest NAIA national poll.
Sophomore Scotty Jones of East Palestine is one of the reasons why the Pioneers are having a successful season.
He finished second with a round of 1-over-par (71-73--143) leading Malone to the championship of the NAIA Classic championship played at Tannenhauf Golf Course in Alliance.
Lindenwood shot 603 for second place in the field of nine schools.
At the 14-team Malone Invitational, Jones carded 70, leading the Pioneers to the title with a score of 292. Tiffin University was second with 302.
Denison
Senior Allison Lesnett (Canfield) finished the regular season with a 9-2 record for the Big Red women's tennis team and she went 11-4 in doubles competition.
Lesnett helped the Big Red to their fourth consecutive North Coast Athletic Conference championship as they defeated Ohio Wesleyan University 5-0 in the title match.
During the season, Denison's only losses were to Washington & amp; Lee, 7-2 and DePauw, 5-2.
The Big Red is ranked second in the Central Region and will compete in the NCAA tennis tournament May 7.
D'Youville
Jenn Toth, a junior pitcher from South Range, was named North Eastern Athletic Conference softball player of the week.
Toth pitched three complete games, leading D'Youville to a 2-2 record.
She threw back-to-back complete game wins against Keuka (N.Y.), as she went 17 innings and struck out 22 batters.
Toth finished the week with a 2-1 record and 1.17 ERA, with 27 strikeouts in 24 innings. She also batted .333 (3-for-9) with a double and one RBI.
Westminster
Ryan Mistovich (Boardman), a junior, won two matches, then lost in the finals at No. 6 singles in the President's Athletic Conference men's tennis championships in Erie, Pa.
He defeated Eric Givens of Bethany, 6-0, 6-0, and Sam Dickman of Grove City, 6-2, 6-4, then lost in the title match to Nate Smucker of Waynesburg, 6-3, 4-6, 3-6.
Mistovich finished with a 7-4 record in singles for the Titans (5-10, 1-4).
Maria Joseph (New Castle) scored the winning run on a double by Heidi Kimmel (Poland) as the softball team beat Hiram, 2-1.
Jennifer Pancake (16-3) of Boardman, a two-time PAC pitcher of the week, threw a complete game one-hitter against the Terriers with six strikeouts.
In her last three games, Pancake gave up just one unearned run in 16 innings and struck out 14.
This season she's allowed 58 hits, eight runs and struck out 84 in 109 2/3 innings. Offensively, Pancake is batting .256 (22-for-86) with six doubles and 14 RBIs.
Mercyhurst
Freshman infielder Dan Bertolini (Poland) is batting .270 (27-for-97) for the baseball team, including two doubles.
Jen Feret (9-5), a sophomore from Boardman, leads the softball team (15-18) with a 1.13 ERA, innings pitched (105 1/3), hits allowed (63) and runs allowed (22) and she's struck out 103.
Feret is also batting .303 (20-for-66) with five doubles, five home runs and 15 RBIs.
Thiel
After winning pitcher of the week twice this season, Keith Jackson (Salem) was named PAC hitter of the week for baseball.
Making only his third start of the season in the outfield, Jackson went 4-for-6 with a pair of two-run home runs as Thiel (14-15) clobbered Pitt-Greensburg 21-6.
Jackson (5-2) has appeared in 11 games as a pitcher, working 55 innings. He has struck out 33 while recording a 5.07 ERA.
Gannon
Freshman shortstop Jaclyn Corroto (Boardman) has appeared in all 36 softball games this season.
Corroto is 27-for-104 (.260) with six doubles and 10 RBIs.
Sean Lysowski (Boardman) is a catcher for the baseball team (24-13). He's started 11 times and has three doubles and three RBIs.
