Educator set to address Mount Union graduation
The speaker is an alumni of Mount Union College.
ALLIANCE -- Dr. Victor J. Boschini, Jr., chancellor of Texas Christian University, will present the address at the 159th commencement ceremonies for Mount Union College on May 8. Some 463 graduates will receive their degrees.
Baccalaureate services will begin at 10 a.m. in the Timken Building, featuring Paul R. White, a 1975 graduate of Mount Union. White is the director of connectional ministries for the East Ohio Conference of the United Methodist Church.
At 1:30 p.m., the commencement procession into the Timken Physical Education Building will begin.
Boschini came to TCU after serving as president of Illinois State University from 1999 to 2003. At Illinois State, Boschini also served as associate professor in the department of educational administration and foundations in the College of Education and taught a class each semester during his presidency. From 1997 to 1999, he was the university's vice president for Student Affairs.
Before coming to Illinois State, he was associate provost at Butler University in Indianapolis and also taught in Butler's College of Education. He previously spent eight years at Indiana University in various administrative posts as well as teaching in the university's School of Education.
Boschini serves on the board of the State Farm Company Mutual Funds, as well as on the boards of the Fort Worth Symphony Orchestra and the Van Cliburn Foundation. He is also a member of the board of trustees of the Brite Divinity School and is a member of the board of directors of the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
Boschini received his bachelor's degree from Mount Union College in 1978. He earned a master's degree in personnel from Bowling Green State University and a doctorate at Indiana University in higher education administration. He was also awarded an honorary doctorate by Lincoln University in Springfield, Ill.
