kMONDAY, THE HUBBLE marked its 15th anniversary in orbit. To celebrate, NASA released new views of two of the most well-known objects Hubble has ever observed: the Eagle Nebula, above, and the Whirlpool Galaxy. The new images are among the largest and sharpest Hubble has ever taken.

Strengthening sex offender laws
kWITHIN the 71/2-mile-long barrier island city of Miami Beach there are 15 schools and 38 parks, and vibrant children can be found within each. Miami Beach Mayor David Dermer is close to building a virtual wall around the children, rewriting municipal law to almost entirely block registered sex offenders from moving into his city. The law would increase the buffer zone between registered sex offenders and places that children frequent.
