'I Hate Hamlet'
SALEM -- Salem Community Theatre will stage "I Hate Hamlet," the story of a young, successful TV actor who has relocated to New York City where he retains a gothic apartment once owned by John Barrymore. When his series is canceled, he is asked to play Hamlet -- but he hates Hamlet. Directed by Dick & amp; Kathy Fawcett, the play opens Friday for a two-weekend run. The show will play at 8 p.m. Saturday and May 6-7, and at 2 p.m. May 8; special ticket pricing is available for the matinee as part of a Mother's Day special. Butler art comes to life
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Butler Institute of American Art's best-known treasures will make an appearance at the Youngstown Playhouse when it presents "Arts Alive II" at 8 p.m. Saturday. Local political figures, business leaders and entertainers will portray well-known paintings such as "Snap the Whip," and set them to music with song, dance and comedy. Steinway piano recital
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Caroline Oltmanns, an international Steinway artist and Fulbright scholar, will give a piano recital of classical music at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday in Orr Auditorium on Westminster's model "D" concert grand Steinway, the largest Steinway. NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- Westminster College presents saxophonist James Flowers and pianist Dr. Nancy Zipay DeSalvo in concert at 7:30 p.m. Monday in Orr Auditorium.

Juried Cup Show
Kent -- The Kent State University School of Art Gallery Downtown presents the fifth national Juried Cup Show Wednesday through June 11, with an opening reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday. The show is in the KSU Museum's Tarter/Miller Gallery. For directions, visit www.kent.edu/museum.

Screenwriting
The Writers Room of Bucks County, Pa. -- a nonprofit writers' center providing writing workshops, publishing and editorial services -- is sponsoring the Stephen Susco Screenwriting Mentorship Competition. Three budding screenwriters will receive one year of personal mentoring by Susco, acclaimed screenwriter of the recent box office hit, "The Grudge."
