HELOISE For future generations, identify and caption all pictures

Dear Heloise:I am asking that you please print this for everyone who takes pictures. My fianc & eacute;'s grandmother recently died, and among the many things we inherited from her were numerous photos and a beautiful old photo album. The album is at least 80 years old, and it is obvious that someone spent a lot of money to have portraits made for it. We only recognize two people in the entire album. There are no names or dates.
We would have loved to have known who these people were and the dates they were alive. So, please ask all your readers to write names and dates on the backs of all photos (be sure to use a special pen or pencil made for writing on photos -- Heloise) and include a caption. When your grandchildren and great-grandchildren look through your photo albums years later, they will know who the people are and will learn about their family history, too. You are so right. We can't go back and correct the past, but we can make sure our family's history in photographs is documented for future generations. And with today's technology and the software available, photos can easily be archived with captions, even in scrapbook form, and then burned onto a CD. Keep one copy of important photos in a fireproof safe or safety-deposit box in case of fire, etc. Heloise

Here's what I do with all those shower caps I've been collecting from hotels, etc.:
UJust slip them under and over the bottoms of most plant pots -- a perfect fit, and no more drips onto the floor.

Dear Heloise: When I fire up the grill to barbecue chicken, I always cook much more than I will need for that day's meal. I flavor the extra chicken with salt, pepper and fajita seasoning and, after it's cooked, freeze it to use in other recipes during the rest of the month -- quiche, chicken fajitas, stir-fry, etc.

Sound off
My sound off is about all the ridiculous names given to products. And who wants a scented deodorant to compete with her perfume? Give me unscented, please.
I also dislike cleaning products with names of food products -- lemon, vanilla, almond, etc. In the soap aisle, you'd think it was a perfume counter -- pity us with allergies. I'm sure the scents add to the cost of the products. Marian Frank, Denville, N.J.
