Neshannock principal takes on new supervisory position

NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Neshannock Area School District's high school principal will be wearing a new hat.
Maynard Harvey was transferred to the newly created position of supervisor of pupil services last week.
Harvey's role will primarily be working with special-education services, including gifted education and programming. He will also be responsible for other areas of pupil services that include guidance, health and food services.
The district currently contracts with the Midwestern Intermediate Unit IV for supervisory special-education services at the rate of $44,000 per year.
Superintendent Dr. Michael Hink said that Harvey would assume the position July 1. The district will post the high school principal position internally before advertising outside.
Hink said there are several staff members who have their certification for high school principal.
In other business last week, the board accepted the retirement of biology and life science teacher Robert Kolitsky. His retirement will take effect June 10.
The board also accepted the resignation of custodian Patrick Buckley and approved hiring Raymond Fontana to replace him.
