Jefferson Township gets $40,000 grant

GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Pennsylvania Sen. Bob Robbins of Greenville, R-5th, and state Rep. Rod Wilt of Greenville, R-17th, announced the awarding of a Community Conservation Partnerships Program Grant for Jefferson Township.
The legislators said the township will receive $40,000 for the further development of its community park.
"Community parks are a great resource for recreation, exercise and enjoying the outdoors," said Robbins. "However, development can put a strain on local funds, and I am pleased that the state is assisting in this project."
Wilt said, "Further development of the township park was spearheaded locally and assisted at the state level. That's kind of state and local partnership that aids the community."
The CCPP initiative is administered by the state Bureau of Recreation and Conservation to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and trail organizations, land trusts and other nonprofits for the planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenways projects.
Funds are provided by the Keystone Recreation, Park and Conservation Fund and the Environmental Stewardship Act Fund.
