MAHONING COUNTY Grand jury indicts 2 on rape, other charges

YOUNGSTOWN -- A Mahoning County grand jury indicted a Youngstown man on 10 counts of rape and a Niles man on charges of kidnapping, rape and aggravated burglary.
The grand jury made its weekly report Thursday, and included in the 30 indictments they handed up was one for William G. Haschenburger, 46, of Fincastle Lane on 10 counts of rape.
The indictment says that from July 26, 2000, to July 26, 2003, he forced or threatened a girl to submit to his advances a total of 10 times in various areas throughout the county. The first sexual assault was when the girl was 14, and the indictment said the crimes continued until she was 17.
Rape is a first-degree felony carrying a maximum penalty of 10 years in prison. If Haschenburger is convicted on all 10 charges, and a judge rules the penalties are to be served consecutively, he could face 100 years behind bars.
The grand jury also indicted Bobbie Peterson, 51, of North Road, Niles, on one charge of kidnapping, seven counts of rape, two counts of aggravated burglary and two counts of violation of a protection order.
Most of the charges involve a woman taken from her home Saturday. The indictment says Peterson held the woman against her will and raped her seven times.
He also is accused of burglarizing a Ferndale Avenue home the same day and twice violating a protection order.
He faces a total of 110 years in prison if convicted and sentenced to the maximum on all charges.
