BOARDMAN -- Boardman pounded out 16 hits, including three by Mallory Hays as the Spartans posted a Federal League win over Canton McKinley. Hays also drove in three runs and had a double. Addie Carothers and Ashley DiDomenico both had two hits including a triple. Danielle Burin, Emily Hays and Nicole Williams all added two hits. Williams pitched the first four innings and got the win for the Spartans (6-5, 2-2), while DiDomenico pitched the final three as they held Canton McKinley to just three hits.
Lakeview 13, Niles 1
NILES -- The Bulldogs (4-4) broke open the game as it scored nine runs in the top of the seventh inning. Kailynn Cerny (4-3) scattered three hits and struck out eight to pick up the win. Thirteen batters went to the plate in the seventh inning with Angela DiCesare hitting a double and single, and driving in a run. Chelsea Butler hit a three-run double during the rally. Ashley Lokash hit two doubles to pace the Red Dragons (3-5).
Springfield 7, Lowellville 3
LOWELLVILLE -- Colleen Platt (4-0) worked four innings as the Tigers (8-1) remained unbeaten in the Inter-County league with a 5-0 record. Ashley Bagnano and Heather Snyder each hit a double and two singles and drove in two runs to pace the Tigers. Christy Warren hit a pair of singles. Casey Wilson and losing pitcher Carla Blinsky, who drove in two runs, each hit a double and single for the Rockets (6-5, 3-3).
Mineral Ridge 15, Brookfield 11
BROOKFIELD -- Melanie Sparks and Heather Buckner each had four hits for the Rams, who scored 10 runs in the fourth inning. Jamie Goodman and Heather Rinehart each added three hits for Ridge (7-4). Stephanie Geer and Courtney Christy each had three hits for Brookfield (2-7).
Jackson-Milton 5, Mathews 2
VIENNA -- Krista Kiraly pitched a three-hitter and Carrie Fiol and Ashley Berry each had two hits to lead Jackson-Milton past Mathews. Fiol had a double as did Kortney Gherardi for the Bluejays (5-3). Carrie Turney had a double for Mathews (5-4).
McDonald 13, Bloomfield 3
MCDONALD -- The Blue Devils (5-6) sent 14 batters to the plate as they took a 8-0 lead in the first inning. Winning pitcher Lauren Walls aided her own cause during that uprising as she hit a single and double and drove in two runs. Kayla Puntel also had two singles. Puntel, during the contest, stole four bases. Lindsay Urban of the Blue Devils hit a double and two singles and scored three times. Kelli Rutushin hit three singles and drove in two runs.
West Branch 3, Minerva 1
MINERVA -- Evelyn Woods and Vana Morgan each collected three hits including doubles. Morgan scattered four hits and pitched a shutout over the final six innings. Bri Benedict had two hits including a triple for the Warriors (3-6). Kristi Anderson had two hits for Minerva (4-4).
St.John-St.Paul 10, Youngstown Christian 0
ASHTABULA -- Kimmy Eicher got both of the Eagles' (0-4) hits. Melissa Byrdy allowed four hits over four innings in a losing effort.
Badger 10, Southington 5
SOUTHINGTON -- The Braves improved to 5-3, 1-0 East Suburban Conference. Brittanie Gillum doubled for the Wildcats (0-7, 0-3).
