CANFIELD -- Youngstown State junior Tiffany Patteson's two-out single in the bottom of the eighth inning scored Lacey Hess and lifted the Penguins (16-20) past Robert Morris, 10-9, in the second game of a doubleheader Wednesday at McCune Park. The Penguins won game one, 2-0.
Char Kudlock had two hits and three runs batted in for the Penguins, including a two-run homer in the third.
McKenzie Bedra hit a three-run homer in the second inning, highlighting a six-run rally.
Tiffany Patteson and Lacy Bronson had two hits each.
In game one, junior Kelly Murphy and senior Ashley Lockmiller, who picked up the save, combined for a five-hit shutout. Murphy tossed six innings and struck out four with one walk.
The Penguins visit Canisius today at 3 p.m.
Men's golf
AVON -- Sophomore Ross Beal tied for second with Detroit's Sean Hutchinson at the Joe Cole/Cleveland State Invitational, which concluded on Tuesday at the Red Tail Golf Club.
Beal and Hutchinson finished with three-round scores of 230. Oakland's Brian Stuard won with 221.
Beal carded rounds of 79-79-72 during the event. His score of 72 on Tuesday was the low round of the afternoon. Nate Komsa finished 28th with a 253 (87-82-84), Kyle Romig placed 33rd with a 257 (87-86-84), while Josh Zarlenga (90-83-88) and Ryan McGraw (89-86-86) tied for 35th place. YSU had two golfers compete as individuals. Jim Powers finished 21st with 250 (86-81-86) and Carmen DiPenti was 34th with a 260 (86-88-86).

Baseball Oldtimers
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Baseball Old Timers hall of fame ceremony is April 24 at 6 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall on Center Street in Struthers.
The inductees will be Mike Fergun, Bob Kelley and Dick Cake. Scrappers general manager Dave Smith is the guest speaker.

*TOLEDO -- Dallas Vargas will take his 18-2 with 13 knockouts to an eight-round light-heavyweight main event against Ted Muller (17-2-1, 5 KOs), from Moline, Ill., Saturday night at the Toledo Sports Arena.
Another fight is a heavyweight six rounder between Devin Vargas, Dallas' younger brother and captain of the 2004 USA Olympic team, and Akron veteran Chuckie Brown. Devin Vargas is 1-0 as a pro and Brown is 6-10-1.
*YOUNGSTOWN -- Warren's Zack Page, with a 5-2 record, goes for his fourth consecutive victory on a six-bout card at the Ramada Inn in Morgantown, W. Va., Saturday night.
Page is one of two fighters representing the Youngstown Steel Valley Boxing Club on this card, along with Jesse Williams.
Page will be in a cruiserweight four-rounder against Eric Starr (13-18-2, four knockouts) from Hillsborough, N.C.
Williams, a native of Youngstown who trained at the Buckeye Elks as an amateur, takes a 1-1-1 pro record into a 154-pound four-rounder against Al Bussey (3-2, 2 KOs) from Washington D.C.

Ilgauskas practices
CLEVELAND -- Injured Cleveland Cavaliers center Zydrunas Ilgauskas practiced on Wednesday and will decide during warmups before tonight's game against New York whether he will be able to play.
Ilgauskas has been out since dislocating his right ring finger April 5 against New Jersey.
Steelers signdefensive end
PITTSBURGH -- Brett Keisel, a restricted free agent defensive end who could play a bigger role this season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, has accepted the team's $656,000 tender offer.
The Steelers also signed special teams player Sean Morey and tight end Walter Rasby to one-year contracts, Morey for $455,000 and Rasby for $765,000 as well as third-string quarterback Brian St. Pierre, who played in one game last year.

Davenport winsin straight sets
CHARLESTON, S.C. -- Top-ranked Lindsay Davenport needed just 55 minutes to advance to the third round of the Family Circle Cup, beating Canadian Marie-Eve Pelletier 6-2, 6-2 on Wednesday.
In other matches, French Open champion Anastasia Myskina, seeded third, lost to unseeded 15-year-old Nicole Vaidisova 6-3, 5-7, 6-4. Vaidisova is ranked 49th.
Defending champion and No. 4 seed Venus Williams defeated Denisa Chladkova 7-6 (1), 6-2 in a night match.
Unseeded Justine Henin-Hardenne, a former champion and former world No. 1, beat Shuai Peng of China, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4.
Mary Pierce of France, the tournament's No. 15 seed, was upset by Nuria Llagostera Vives of Spain, 6-4, 7-6 (3). Unseeded Viktoriya Kutuzova beat 16th-seeded Fabiola Zuluaga 6-3, 6-1.
