KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Aaron Sele allowed three hits in 6 1/3 innings, and Seattle manager Mike Hargrove won his 1,000th career game. Ichiro Suzuki, who set the major league season record last year with 262 hits, was 0-for-4 and failed to hit safely for the first time in 20 games since Sept. 19 against Oakland. Sele (1-0) allowed one run, struck out three and walked two.
Yankees 5, Red Sox 2
BOSTON -- Jason Giambi lined a two-run homer to break a sixth-inning tie and Bernie Williams added another to chase Curt Schilling. Mariano Rivera came on to pitch the ninth -- earning a standing ovation from Red Sox fans who remember him blowing four consecutive saves against them in the AL championship series. But this time Rivera completed the job, earning his second save. Jaret Wright (1-1) allowed two runs, six hits and four walks, striking out two in five innings.
Orioles 5, Devil Rays 1
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.-- Brian Roberts hit a tie-breaking RBI single, and Miguel Tejada and Sammy Sosa also had clutch hits in a four-run seventh inning for Baltimore. Roberts went 1-for-4, and is batting .394 with four home runs and 10 RBIs during an eight-game hitting streak. Tejada followed with a two-run double off reliever Travis Harper. Sosa went 2-for-4 and finished the Orioles' sixth with an RBI single.
Twins 8, Tigers 4
MINNEAPOLIS-- Terry Tiffee had a two-run homer and a career-high three RBIs in his first game of the season, and Jacque Jones also hit a two-run homer to lead the Twins, who have won three straight games. Tiffee went 2-for-3 with two runs scored. Kyle Lohse (1-1) allowed four runs and eight hits in 6 1/3 innings, while striking out six and walking one. Brandon Inge hit a solo homer for the Tigers, losers of three straight.
Rangers 7, Angels 5
ARLINGTON, Texas-- Michael Young hit a tie-breaking three-run triple and Chan Ho Park become the first Texas starter to win this season. Park (1-0) gave up three runs and five hits in 6 2/3 innings, struck out six and walked one. Alfonso Soriano went 3-for-5 to help the Rangers to their first victory in three home games this season.

Marlins 4, Phillies 0
MIAMI -- Dontrelle Willis threw a three-hitter for his second consecutive shutout. Willis' (2-0) performance dropped the Marlins' team ERA to 1.36. Willis struck out seven and walked one. Miguel Cabrera hit two sacrifice flies for Florida.
Nationals 11, Braves 4
ATLANTA -- Jose Guillen homered twice, becoming the first player in the major leagues with five this season. Tomo Ohka (1-1) won despite walking six in six innings. He gave up three runs and four hits, leaving with a 5-3 lead. John Thomson (1-1) allowed four runs, seven hits and four walks in six innings. Braves manager Bobby Cox was ejected by plate umpire Randy Marsh in the first.
Padres 8, Cubs 3Cubs 8, Padres 3
CHICAGO -- Mark Prior (1-0) allowed four hits in six shutout innings in his first game of the season following a stint on the disabled list caused by right elbow inflammation, and Derrek Lee had five RBIs as Chicago gained a doubleheader split. Brian Lawrence (0-2) gave up seven runs and nine hits in 2 2/3 innings, allowing a three-run homer to Lee in the first inning. Neifi Perez went 6-for-9 in the doubleheader. In the opener, Kerry Wood (0-1) gave up three homers, including one to Geoff Blum leading off the game. Blum homered again leading off the ninth. Brian Giles and Ryan Klesko also homered off Wood, who allowed seven runs, one of them unearned.
Reds 6, Cardinals 5
ST. LOUIS -- Mark Mulder (0-1) allowed six runs and 11 hits in five innings in his second outing for the Cardinals, his ERA rising to 8.18. Austin Kearns hit a three-run home run and Joe Randa had three hits for the Reds. Matt Belisle (1-1) got his second career win, allowing one run in five innings in his first major league start.
Diamondbacks 5, Rockies 2
PHOENIX -- Shawn Estes (1-0) allowed one run and four hits in seven innings, Tony Clark doubled in two runs and the Diamondbacks handed the Rockies their seventh straight loss. Troy Glaus had two hits, including an RBI double, to help the Diamondbacks to their fourth consecutive victory. Brian Bruney pitched a hitless ninth for his first major league save, sending Colorado to its 16th loss in 18 games dating to last year. Byung-Hyun Kim (0-1) allowed four runs and two hits in one inning.
Mets 1, Astros 0, 11 innings
NEW YORK -- Kazuhisa Ishii matched Roger Clemens for seven innings and Jose Reyes hit an RBI single in the 11th inning to lead the Mets. After Victor Diaz walked, late-inning defensive replacement Chris Woodward sacrificed him to second. Reyes then hit a bouncer that Astros reliever Dan Wheeler (0-1) reached up and deflected with his glove past second. Shortstop Adam Everett dived and also got a glove on it. Second baseman Chris Burke made a weak throw home from short center field, and Diaz scored without a play. Mike DeJean (1-0), the fourth Mets pitcher, pitched the 11th for New York. Roberto Hernandez pitched a hitless eighth, and Braden Looper worked a 1-2-3 ninth and escaped a bases-loaded jam in the 10th for New York, which won its third straight after an 0-5 start.
