Groups join forces for one-day fund-raiser

The event will benefit a local student suffering from a rare form of cancer.
BOARDMAN -- The Youngstown State University chapter of Students in Free Enterprise recently announced plans to join forces with the Boardman Local School District and Boardman Rotary to spearhead LemonPalooza.
The one-day event is a benefit for the Jordan Aron Medical Fund. Jordan, a Boardman Middle School student, suffers from rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare, life-threatening form of cancer.
The fund-raiser will run from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 30 when 14 lemonade stands (one for each Boardman fourth-grade classroom) simultaneously operate at 12 Boardman area locations. All lemonade sale proceeds will benefit the medical fund.
Throughout April, YSU students will serve as consultants, guiding youngsters from Boardman fourth-grade classrooms through the decisions (such as marketing, manufacturing and promotion) that accompany the launch of any business.
Boardman Rotary offered nearly $600 in start-up "seed money" ($40 to each of the 14 classrooms).
Lemonade stands will be at Taylor Kia, Goldstein's Furniture, the Great Harvest Bread Company, Family Video, Curves, Family Christian Store, Frederick Dodge, and Anzevino's Sparkle. Other locations include the Harley-Davidson Store (Route 224), Golf Headquarters, Stadium Lincoln-Mercury-Mazda, the Holiday Inn- Boardman and Inglis Greenhouse.
