PREP SOFTBALL Akron Ellet High's Courtney Pruner stops Boardman on no-hitter



The Ohio State recruit blanked the Spartans 1-0.
BOARDMAN -- Ohio State recruit Courtney Pruner pitched a no-hitter as the Akron Ellet High softball team (6-2) defeated Boardman, 1-0, by scoring an unearned run.
Pruner and Boardman pitcher Ashley DiDomenico each struck out 10 batters.

BOARDMAN -- Katie Zetts hit a two-run double for the Spartans (6-5).
Danielle Burin and Addie Carothers had two hits apiece for the Spartans (6-5). Keystone, last year's Division II state finalist, is 5-0.
Struthers 5, Chaney 3
STRUTHERS -- Amanda Ruozzo had two hits and Steph Sahli added two RBIs for the Wildcats (2-4).
Terra Kountz had two hits for Chaney (1-3).
Southeast 6-4, Hubbard 3-1
RAVENNA -- Megan Blagens doubled home two runs for the Pirates in the first game.
For the Eagles, Callie Oyler and Stephanie Zubyk singled.
In the second game, Ali Austin doubled for the Pirates (2-2). For Hubbard, Danielle DeJulio and Natalie Bata each had two singled while Tressa Scahill.
Steubenville CC 7, Ursuline 1Ursuline 5, Beaumont 4
VIENNA -- The Irish split in the Thunderplex Invitational tournament.
Steubenville Central Catholic (6-1,) got all the runs it needed, three, in the top of the second inning.
Ursuline's Ashley hit a double and single and drove in the team's only run. Mary Alexander added two singles.
In the second contest, Ursuline rallied for the deciding run in the bottom of the eighth inning as Jolanta Carkido, who hit three singles, singled with one away. She moved to second on an error and two third on a groundout. The Beaumont catcher tried to pick Carkido off the base at third and threw the ball into the outfield and Carkido came in to score.
The Irish (4-3) were led by Ashley Siembieda, whose two-run double tied the score in the seventh inning. She also singled.
W. Reserve 10-7, Sebring 0-0
BERLIN CENTER -- The Blue Devils scored nine runs in the first three innings to prevail in the first game. Katie Harmon and Lindsay Kuebler each hit a triple to pace Western Reserve.
In the second game, Harmon (3-1) worked a complete game with 10 strikeouts to pick up the win. She also hit a pair of doubles.
Columbiana 11, Lowellville 5Lowellville 11, Rayen 0
LOWELLVILLE -- Columbiana (6-0) broke a 4-4 tie as it scored five runs in the fourth inning. Winning pitcher Kristina Davidson hit a grand slam for the Clippers. Losing pitch Carla Blinsky hit a three-run home run for the Rockets (4-4).
In another game, the Rockets jumped out to a 5-0 lead and the Tigers couldn't recover. Lindsay Wilson (2-0) fired a one-hitter to pick up the win. She also hit three singles and drove in a run.
Girard 16, Campbell 4McDonald 10, Girard 7
GIRARD -- A 13-run fourth inning by the Indians put the game out of reach. Krista Kirkpatrick, Morgan Condo, Lonnie Gardner and Nikki Petrarca each had two hits. Victoria Steiner it a triple and single for the Red Devils.
In the loss to the Blue Devils (3-4), the Indians (2-6), ahead 7-4, fell apart in the seventh inning as McDonald scored six times for the victory.
Leskovec paced Girard with a triple and single and she drove in two runs. Kelly Rutushin led the Blue Devils with a double and single and three RBIs.
