CANFIELD -- Joshua Summer, a junior at Canfield High School, was selected from over 1,700 students worldwide to attend the United States Air Force Academy's Summer Seminar program for 2005. He is the son of Jay and Laura Summer. Selection is based on a student's academic achievement, athletic abilities, leadership skills and desire to pursue a career in the Air Force. The Summer Seminar program gives high school students the opportunity to experience the environment at the Air Force Academy. Summer Seminar is one of the Academy's top recruiting programs and the students' agenda includes academic workshops along with some military and physical training scenarios.
Training courses plannedfor nursing assistants
LORDSTOWN -- A course to train nurse assistants will begin April 18 at the Trumbull County Technical Center Adult Training Center in Lordstown. The class will be Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. for four weeks, ending May 12. This is a state-approved course.

Scholarship opportunity available at TCLSA
WARREN -- TCLSA formerly known as Trumbull County Legal Secretaries Association is accepting scholarship applications for the 2005-06 school year. The scholarship will be awarded to a student interested in continuing his or her education in the legal secretarial/paralegal/court reporting fields.
The scholarship has been established under the name of Margaret G. Wilson, an employee of the Trumbull County Probate Court for 41 years. Winners will be selected on the basis of financial need, merit and academic ability. The number of scholarships and their worth hasn't been set yet, TCLSA officials said. Applicants must either be a high school senior or currently enrolled in an institution of higher education.
Scholarship applications are available through school guidance counselors or by calling Deborah Saner at (330) 898-2407. Applications must be submitted to TCLSA before April 30.
Playhouse to host fairfor Ohio educators
CLEVELAND -- Playhouse Square Center's Arts Education Department will welcome hundreds of educators from all over Northeast Ohio to the 12th annual "Fair on the Square" on April 25 from 4 to 6 p.m. in the State Theatre.
More than 800 teachers attended Fair on the Square in 2004. Those who attend this year can browse through more than 50 exhibits from local arts, science and cultural organizations to learn about field trips and curriculum enhancement opportunities available throughout Northeast Ohio for the 2005-06 school year. Attendees can also choose from among 13 workshops and showcase performances to attend prior to the start of the Fair.
