Local chapter plans annual Red and White Ball

Proceeds from the fund-raiser will go toward the chapter's services and programs.
LIBERTY -- The Holiday Inn MetroPlex, 1620 Motor Inn Drive, will be the setting from 6 p.m. to midnight May 7 for the ninth annual Red and White Ball sponsored by the Mahoning Chapter of the American Red Cross.
The evening will feature silent and live auctions, dinner and dancing to music provided by BackBeat.
Proceeds from the black-tie event will help fund local disaster services, health and safety programs, and emergency assistance for military families.

Honorary chairpersons
Jim and Ellen Tressel are this year's honorary chairpersons, and Shari Francis and her husband, the late Jeff Francis, are named honorary co-chairpersons.
Tressel is head football coach of the Ohio State University Buckeyes and former head football coach of the Youngstown State University Penguins. In addition to leading both teams to national championships, he has received numerous coach of the year awards at the regional, state and national levels.
Francis, who passed away in February, had been involved in the local banking industry since 1973, serving as president and COO of First Place Bank, executive vice president and COO of First Place Financial Corp. and member of the board of directors for both.

Serving as general chairman and co-chairman are Lynn Kasper and Dr. Jenifer Lloyd. Board members serving on committees are Dr. Denise Bobovnyik, Tod Crowe, John Donchess, Lou Joseph, John MacIntosh, Nancy Merlo, Sam Morocco, Marie Scott, Rick Teaberry, Florence Wang and Verna Wylie.
