Drunken-driving program for youths is set

BOARDMAN -- Area youths will get a sobering look at the detrimental effects driving drunk can have on the offending individual and the community.
Local medical and law-enforcement agencies are teaming up to present "Reality Checkpoint," a youth-geared educational program concerning alcohol and drug automobile safety issues.
The presentation is from 6 to 8:15 p.m. Monday in the Azalea room at St. Elizabeth Emergency and Diagnostic Center, 8401 Market St. Presenters scheduled to participate include Lt. Brian Girts of the Ohio State Highway Patrol; Anne Moss, the Trauma Program manager at St. Elizabeth; and Judge Maureen Cronin of the Mahoning County Common Pleas Court.
The presentation will incorporate the testimonial from a drunken-driving accident victim's surviving family. Event organizers include Beaver, Poland Township and Boardman police departments, St. Elizabeth Health Center and the OSHP.`
