POLICE CALLS



A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard:
GIRARD
April 3
Theft: An employee at McQuaid Service Center, 131 S. State St., called police after a man reached over a counter, grabbed two cartons of cigarettes and fled.
April 4
Vandalism: Police responded to Five Star Graphics, 201 W. Liberty St., after someone used BBs and rocks to damage several window panes and two doors. Also damaged was an aluminum window frame.
Assault: A Girard woman said another woman threw a glass of liquid at her before tossing her to the ground and tearing her shirt during an argument at Kay Lanes Inc., 841 S. State St. The other woman said she threw beer at the Girard woman. One of the women had several scratches on her face and neck.
April 5
Assault: Police were called to McQuaid's Mini Mart, 158 E. Liberty St., when a Girard man reported he had taken refuge there after being assaulted in a van. He said another man struck the victim, tried to choke him and pulled his hair.
April 6
Unauthorized use of a vehicle: A Boardman man said his car was taken without permission while he was at an Abbey Street residence. The car was later returned.
Criminal damaging: A Masury man left Mikee's, 30 N. State St., and discovered his car's window had been shattered.
Breaking and entering: Someone damaged a front door before entering Trumbull Party Mart, 421 Trumbull Ave. The perpetrator went behind a counter and rummaged through an office; nothing appeared to be missing.
