Mahoning County
The Mahoning County commissioners declared Sebring the county seat for a day Thursday and conducted their business at the F.A. Sebring Community Center. Following are some of the matters handled:
Approved an agreement with Steel Valley Construction Co. of Warren for lead-hazard control work at a Howard Avenue home, Youngstown, for $15,785. The money comes from the county's lead-hazard program and not from the general fund.
Approved borrowing $1,165,000 through the sale of bonds to pay for motorized and mechanical equipment for the county engineer's office for road construction and services.
Approved an agreement with Collins Equipment Corp., Cleveland, to replace the probe in the underground fuel storage tank gauging system for the sanitary engineer's office for $1,489.
Approved an agreement with Dr. David L. Chiarella for psychological evaluations of youth at the Juvenile Justice Center for $300 per evaluation.
Approved agreements with WFMJ (Channel 21) and WYTV (Channel 33), at $15,000 for each station, for buying air time for a recycling awareness campaign promotion. The money comes from the county's recycling division.
