NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. -- The Westminster College Concert Choir and Chamber Singers will perform a spring concert at 3 p.m. Sunday in Wallace Memorial Chapel. The event is free and open to the public. Local singers include Lee Scott of Butler, Rachael Mellor of Slippery Rock, Kevin Facciani of Cranberry Township, Darci Kuhlber of Grove City, Justin Bryan of New Wilmington, Jill Darby of Hermitage, Courtney Turek of Canfield and Nikky Douglas of Youngstown. Theater hosts jazz tour
CLEVELAND -- The original line-up of Matt Bianco, featuring vocals by Basia, will perform at 7 p.m. Sundayat the Allen Theatre. The jazz group is together again after 20 years of separate careers, promoting their new album "Matt's Mood." Vocalists Mark Reilly and Basia Trzetrzelewska and keyboardist Danny White kicked off their first-ever U.S. tour as a group Tuesday at the State Theatre in Minneapolis and will wrap-up on the West Coast in mid-May.
Latino film competition
NEW YORK, N.Y. -- For the second year, HBO has teamed with the New York International Latino Film Festival to find the next hot Latino filmmaker. The winner will receive $15,000 to produce and direct an original short film narrative based on their entry. The winning film will be presented during the 2005 New York International Latino Film Festival in July. The competition is open to anyone 18 years or older. Scripts must be written in English by a person of Latino decent or focus on the Latino experience. Entrants should submit completed scripts for a narrative short film (maximum 5 minutes long), plus a filmmaker reel or previously produced short postmarked by May 6 to NYILFF, c/o HBO Short Film Contest, P.O. 'Picasso' and dinner
ASHTABULA -- Dinner will be available before Saturday evening performances of "Picasso at the Lapin Agile" this week and April 16 at the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 West 13th St. Dinners are served in the gallery at 6:30 p.m.; performances start at 8. This week's menu will include French onion soup, chicken coq au vin, salad nicoise, gratin de pomme de terre (potato casserole), French bread with butter, and a dessert plate containing cheese, fruit and truffles.
