PREP BASEBALL Niles beats Alliance in 11 innings



The last of Mike Ruscitti's three hits drove in the winning run in a 5-4 win.
NILES -- It will probably be one of the longest baseball games in the area this season.
It took Niles High School 11 innings Wednesday to hand Alliance it first loss, 5-4 in a Metro Athletic Conference at Wilder field.
Brian Bianco of the Niles Red Dragons pitched nine shutout innings, before the Aviators were able to score four runs to take the lead.
Niles (3-2, 1-1) rallied with four runs in the bottom of the 10th, with Mike Ruscitti hitting a two-run double to tie the score.
In the bottom of the 11th, Ruscitti, who was 3-for-5, hit a bases-loaded single to drive in the winning run.
Ryan Norquist, David Dudley and Courtland Brown each had two hits for the Aviators (7-1, 3-1).
Poland 5, Salem 3
STRUTHERS -- Poland rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning in a MAC contest at Cene Park.
Mike Swobody and Jim Kozlow had RBI singles in the big sixth inning after Salem led 3-2 in the top of the sixth.
Kozlow had two hits, including a triple, and drove in two runs for the Bulldogs (4-3, 2-0 MAC).
Salem (2-2, 0-2) outhit the Bulldogs 10-7, led by Grant Sevek who had three hits, including a double. Ben Miller added a double and triple and drove in a run.
Canfield 13, Struthers 2
CANFIELD -- Joe Rosko hit a home run and a double as Canfield defeated Struthers in the MAC.
Rosko, who also drove in three runs, was aided by Mike Hoelzel with three hits, while Sean Baker and Zack Guerrieri each added two hits, including a double, for the Cardinals (4-1, 2-0 MAC).
Struthers (1-4, 0-4) managed just three hits off Canfield's Brad Blevins (2-0).
Warren Harding 11, Wilson 1
WARREN -- The Raiders scored runs in every inning. Ryan Cameron, Justin Chapin and Andy Dobson collected two hits apiece for Harding (2-3).
Wilson was led by losing pitcher Kevin Newberry, who hit a double and two singles and drove in a run.
Chaney 25, Rayen 0
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Cowboys (1-4) took an 11-0 lead in the first inning to post their first victory.
Tom Enyeart hit a double, triple, single and drove in three runs for the Cowboys.
Lou Kopachy hit a home run, single and drove in five runs.
Jose Feliciano singled for the Tigers (0-5, 0-1) in the third inning.
Springfield 8, South Range 4
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- Everyone in the starting lineup had a hit for the unbeaten Tigers (5-0, 2-0 Inter-County League).
Melio Rios and Andrew Sarich each went 3-for-4 for Springfield.
Luke Summers (3-0) pitched a complete game to pick up the win.
Fitch 7, Perry 0
MASSILLON -- Alex Oles pitched a one hit shutout while Matt Ruble had three hits and two RBIs for Fitch in a game played Tuesday.
Dave Diyorio added a pair of hits and two RBIs for the Falcons, while John Mang and Charlie Olenych each had a pair of hits.
Fitch improved to 3-2 overall and 1-0 in the Federal League.
