Exterior renovation set to begin

WARREN -- Officials plan to kick off the long-planned exterior renovation of the historic Kinsman House and adjacent land title house today in downtown Warren.
Expected to join Mayor Michael O'Brien this afternoon on the house's south lawn were representatives from the office of U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan of Niles, D-17th.
The nearly $500,000 renovation project is funded with federal Community Development Block Grant dollars and is a component of the downtown revitalization strategy.
The city board of control has awarded the contract for exterior renovations to Jance Construction LLC of Mentor. The company will clean and restore the outside of the mansion and land title house, 303 and 321 Mahoning Ave.
The brick will be repainted, and windows, shutters, exterior woodwork and all brick and stone exterior surfaces, including chimneys, are part of the project. The contract is for $485,506.
The Kinsman House, a Greek revival-style structure, was built in 1832. The project has been planned since 2001.
The architect is Gaede Serne Architects Inc., Cleveland, a specialist in historic renovations.
