A 9-year-old's poem
From "There's Hope In What We Do":
"The Survivor's Life Saver"
When we learn to swim
We hang on to the side of the pool,
Or onto a life ring or another person,
Eventually we swim alone.
Living with someone who has cancer
Is like learning to swim
You hang on to each other
Until you can do it yourself.
I took care of my Aunt
Five years ago,
When she went through breast cancer,
Today we're swimming on our own.
