Firm hired to run tests
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Central Area Community Improvement Corp. executive committee has hired Brownfield Restoration Group LLC of Akron for $34,341.50 to conduct testing and other tasks at five buildings west of the Youngstown Business Incubator on West Federal Street.
The CIC plans to spend about $5.2 million to demolish the structures, and build a 25,000-square-foot building to house high-technology companies. If everything goes according to plan, construction would start at the end of this year or early 2006, and be done by the end of 2006. The executive committee, meeting Thursday, also agreed to pay up to $12,765 to replace the Voinovich Center's 25-ton air conditioning compressor. The compressor needs to be replaced immediately because of warmer temperatures, and because the building's windows don't open, Whitehead said.
