Group collects cell phones, pagers

SHARON, Pa. -- The Keystone Blind Association's Keystone Kids will be collecting old cell phones and pagers from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday as a fund-raising event.
The group gets a donation for the electronic equipment from the Recycling for Charity Program, an environmental initiative with Waste Free NYC. The phones are refurbished and sent to family shelters and similar organizations within the United States.
Money raised will help finance a trip to Disney World in June as a Youth Educational Series trip for the Keystone Kids. The program will give the children a backstage look at Disney World and how it operates.
All makes and models of phone and pagers will be accepted, and donors should be sure their equipment is deactivated before dropping it off.
The Keystone Kids will be at the association's building at 1230 Stambaugh Ave., The Engraving Place at 1945 E. State St., Hermitage, and Greenville Savings Bank at 233 Main St., Greenville.
The children also will be selling all occasion and holiday note cards that they designed as well as T-shirts and sweatshirts with those same designs.
Keystone Kids will sponsor a concert by the band Brass Taxi on Nov. 20 at Sharon High School.
