WNBA PLAYOFFS Connecticut evens series with Washington, 80-70



The Mystics and the Sun will play the championship game Wednesday.
UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) -- Lindsay Whalen matched her career-high with 21 points and Connecticut beat Washington 80-70 Monday night to even the best-of-three WNBA Eastern Conference semifinal.
The deciding third game will be Wednesday night at Connecticut.
Whalen was 15-of-16 from the free throw line, while the Sun were 30-of-32, the third best mark in league playoff history.
Nykesha Sales added 13 points for the Sun and set a WNBA playoff record with a career-best seven steals. Connecticut scored 21 points on 17 Washington turnovers.
Rookie Alana Beard of the Mystics finished with 15 points, six in the final 2 minutes.
Storm 64, Lynx 54
SEATTLE (AP) -- Lauren Jackson scored 18 points and Seattle advanced to the WNBA Western Conference finals with the two-game sweep.
The Storm lost starting point guard and U.S. Olympian Sue Bird to a broken nose early in the first half. She was hit setting a screen on Minnesota's Teresa Edwards.
Down 48-45 with just under 10 minutes remaining, Seattle went on a 14-1 run to take a 59-49 lead with just under 3 minutes left. The Storm scored 19 of the game's final 25 points.
Svetlana Abrosimova had 14 points to lead Minnesota.
