Meeting to be held on landfill lawsuit

LEAVITTSBURG -- About 3,800 letters were sent to residents around the Warren Recycling landfill notifying them of a meeting tonight to discuss a class action lawsuit.
The meeting is at 7:30 p.m. at the Johnson Community Center on Gilmer Road.
Thirteen residents filed a class action suit in April in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court asking a judge to order the Martin Luther King Avenue landfill to stop emitting pollutants onto their property and to award damages.
Warren was added as a defendant earlier this month.
Atty. David Dubin of Detroit, who represents the residents, said about 250 people have signed on to the lawsuit since it was filed.
"We want to explain to people what the case is about and what our goals are," Dubin said.
He said the first goal is to stop the pollution.
"It doesn't matter how much money we get for them -- if they still have to live with this problem, it's insignificant," Dubin said.
