Trumbull supervisor sayscounty buildings need maintenance workers
EDITOR:
As maintenance supervisor for Trumbull County, I would like to inform the citizens of the county of the following facts. The board of commissioners are responsible for the maintenance and repair of 17 buildings throughout the county. The total square feet of these buildings are over 500,000. The citizens of Trumbull County have over a $100 million investment in their community with these buildings. As maintenance supervisor I am employed by the commissioners to provide the workers in these buildings and the public that visits these facilities a safe and sanitary environment.
The maintenance department is currently maintaining and cleaning more buildings with less personnel than prior to the layoffs in 2003. The men and women of this department have continually worked above and beyond their normal duties to provide the citizens of Trumbull County the service that they deserve.
During the last decade when the board of commissioners had the additional sales tax available, they made a commitment to the citizens to invest additional funds in renovating and building needed facilities. During the last 10 years the county courthouse has been completely renovated and is the centerpiece of Courthouse Square. A much-needed jail was built. A new 11th District Court of Appeals building was built, along with a new agriculture building in Cortland. The county administration building was also renovated during this time period.
Unfortunately there are many more buildings throughout the county that are also in need of extensive renovation and repair. Not unlike the homeowners in the Valley, government must constantly repair and invest in their most valuable assets -- their buildings.
The citizens of Trumbull County deserve safe, clean buildings, the timely recording of deeds, the transfer of their property and autos in a timely manner, the collecting of their property taxes, the appraisal of their property, the administration of justice through the courts and criminal justice system and many more services provided by your county elected officials and departments throughout Trumbull County. I and all of us who serve the citizens of Trumbull County are committed to providing these services in a efficient and professional manner.

Looking for a pet? Check out your local animal shelter
EDITOR:
My family and I recently adopted a dog from the Animal Welfare League of Trumbull County on Brunstetter Road in Lordstown. The people there were wonderful and we got a wonderful pet, too! We would like to encourage anyone who is thinking about getting a new pet to consider adopting it from a shelter.
The dog that we adopted is about two years old, house trained, neutered, has his shots, and even knows a few tricks. There are many animals there that are in need of a home. Many of them are already trained and just need someone to love them.
Please take the time to go look or go to petfinders.org and type in your zip code to find animals near you or all over the state. Animals of every breed can be found on this website. They all need a good home.
