GIRARD -- Detectives from the city police department and officials from the Trumbull County Coroner's Office are continuing their investigation into the death of a 6-month-old boy.
Jayden Zell, of Shields Road, Boardman, was found dead shortly after 8 a.m. at a home on Woodlawn Avenue.
According to records, Jayden's mother, Jackie Banks, had spent the night with friends after a fight with her boyfriend, who is also the baby's father.
The mother and child slept in a recliner, reports said, and Banks awoke at 7 a.m. to be at work by 7:45 a.m. but did not notice the baby was not breathing.
Police reports said it appeared the child had been dead for some time since rigor mortis had already set in.
Woman reports assault
WARREN -- A 41-year-old Buckeye Street woman told police she was raped, robbed and held against her will by an unknown man.
The woman said the sexual assault took place in a car about 3 a.m. Saturday. No arrests were made.
Car vandalisms reported
NILES -- Police are investigating a rash of car vandalisms.
Police received calls from five people at the Royal Mall apartments Saturday morning about vehicle windows shot out with BB pellets. While taking statements, officers located at least three more vehicles that had been damaged.
Reports said the damage in most cases appeared to have taken place between 2 and 10 a.m. Saturday.
Shooting investigation
WARREN -- Police are investigating a shooting that took place on Jefferson Street Southwest.
According to reports, police were called to the area around 5:15 p.m. Sunday after receiving calls that two gunshots were fired. No injuries were reported.
Break-in at restaurant
YOUNGSTOWN -- A break-in at Karpinski Family Restaurant, 2104 Hubbard Road, was discovered around 7 a.m. Sunday by the owner.
Entry was gained by prying open a side door.
The owner told police that a computer, $800 in cash and various food items were stolen. An inventory was to be taken to determine what else may have been stolen.
Board to meet
CAMPBELL -- The city school board will have a special meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the board office to discuss personnel matters in executive session.
