Dayton cops suspect body is missing FAA employee

WEST CARROLLTON, Ohio (AP) -- A body found in the trunk of a car parked in an apartment complex parking lot could be a Federal Aviation Administration employee last seen Sept. 1, police said.
West Carrollton Police Chief Richard Barnhart said Phillip D. Troutwine, 57, of Darke County, was last seen leaving Dayton International Airport in a 1997 Pontiac Bonneville four-door sedan.
Police received a call Saturday from the Darke County sheriff to check a Pontiac Bonneville in this Dayton suburb.
Tip received
The Darke County Sheriff's Office received a tip about the car, Barnhart said. That office began searching for Troutwine on Sept. 3 when his wife, Patricia, called them to her home outside Ithaca.
After inspecting the car Saturday, West Carrollton police contacted the Montgomery County coroner's office and Dayton police, who have an active investigation open on Troutwine.
Dayton police and coroner's office officials declined to disclose information about the body or verify its identity. Barnhart said he didn't know how long the body had been in the trunk or how long the car had been parked in the lot.
It was parked in a high-traffic area, but no apartment complex residents interviewed by West Carrollton police saw anything out of the ordinary, he said.
