XCANFIELD -- Aug. 21 was the date chosen for the wedding of Rebecca L. Markulin and Jay Widener, who exchanged nuptial vows during a 2 p.m. ceremony that took place at St. Michael Church.
The marriage was solemnized by the Rev. Terry Hazel, and afterward the couple accepted congratulations during a reception in their honor at the Byzantine Center at the Grove in Youngstown.
The bride is a daughter of Richard and Teresa Markulin, 4232 Pleasant Valley Lane. Parents of the groom are Clyde and Kathleen Widener, 8405 Stoney Creek Drive, Boardman.
After honeymooning at Marco Island, Fla., the couple live at 120 Talsman Drive.
The bride wore a strapless ivory silk gown fashioned with a chapel train.
Black gowns were worn by the honor attendant, Lisa Hendricks of Charlotte, N.C., and the bridesmaids, Rachel Dillon of Rootstown and Brittany Konvolinka of Columbus, cousins of the bride.
The duties of best man were performed by the groom's brother, Jeffrey Widener of Boardman, and groomsmen were Timothy Markulin of Kent, a brother of the bride, and Richard Hinkle of Boardman, the groom's cousin.
The bride, a sales assistant with Butler Wick & amp; Co. Inc., Howland, graduated from Kent State University with a bachelor's degree in business administration.
The groom earned a bachelor's degree in business administration at Youngstown State University and is a sales representative with U.S. Nutrition Inc. in Ronkonkoma, N.Y.
