NON-CONFERENCE Beaver Local cruises past Bellaire, 56-13

Four players topped the 100-yard rushing mark in the Beavers' fifth win.

LISBON -- Pulling a page from Barry Switzer's mid-70's Oklahoma playbook, Beaver Local hung half a hundred on Bellaire Friday night, easily turning back the Big Reds 56-13.
The Beavers used a powerful rushing attack, which saw four players top the 100-yard mark, as they stretched their unbeaten string to 5-0. Bellaire dropped to 4-1.
The rushing attack, which had Beaver gaining 519 yards as a team, drew high praise from coach Rich Wright.
Both teams entered the game with high rankings. The Beavers were sixth in Division V, while the Big Reds stood at fourth in Div. IV.
Jumped out early
The hosts set the tone from the start as Dan Kinsey took the opening kickoff 73 yards to the Bellaire 20. Just four plays later Josh Weese scored from 10 yards out making it 7-0.
Kinsey came up big all night, scoring three touchdowns and coming up with a key interception early in the game.
Leading 21-0, Beaver saw the Big Reds make it 21-7 and then cut the gap to 21-13 on a flea flicker that covered 43 yards as the first-half clock ran out.
Beaver Local put the game away in the third quarter, scoring the first two times it had the ball.
Jimmy Bowersock covered 32 yards on a third-and-2 play, while Josh Weese scored from 24 as Beaver cruised ahead 35-13 with 5:20 to go in the session.
By the time the quarter ended, Beaver Local showed a carbon copy of the first quarter. In that frame, its rushing was 150 yards to 18 for the Big Reds, while in the third it held a total offensive edge of 134 to 25.
"I wouldn't say we were down at the half," said Bowersock. "But we weren't happy either. I wouldn't say it got easier either. I think we just started executing every play to our potential. Plus we always like to play at home."
Leading the way
Bowersock had 114 yards on 11 carries, while Stephen Mercer led all rushers with 130 and one touchdown. Weese finished with 111, while Kinsey had 112.
Interestingly, this was the second time in as many years the Beavers had four players with 100 yards in the same game.
"We work hard every week on special teams," Kinsey said. "And it showed tonight."
