Kraft Foods agrees to pay civil penalty to Ohio EPA
FARMDALE -- The Ohio EPA has reached a tentative settlement with Kraft Foods Global Inc., which the Ohio EPA says violated water pollution control regulations at its industrial waste water treatment plant at 5915 Burnett East Road.
The company has agreed to pay a $50,000 civil penalty to the state EPA, with equal portions benefiting the Ohio Environmental Education Fund and the administration of water pollution control programs.
The company's waste water treatment plant discharges into an unnamed tributary of Pymatuning Creek.
The EPA said the company violated permit limits on numerous occasions for pH values, biochemical oxygen demand and suspended solids.
The proposed consent agreement is on file in the Trumbull County Common Pleas Court, and final approval won't occur until after a 30-day public comment period.
