TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Sidney Montfort rushed for 124 yards and a touchdown while Jake Shields added 117 yards and a score to lead Indiana State to a 41-24 win over Tennessee-Martin Saturday.
The Sycamores (3-1) racked up 328 yards on the ground and took advantage of four Tennessee-Martin turnovers to offset a huge passing day from the Skyhawks' Brady Wahlberg.
Wahlberg was 29-of-45 for 327 yards and three touchdowns, but he also threw three interceptions, including on back-to-back series in the fourth quarter that stymied any thoughts of a comeback.
Shields' 15-yard touchdown with just under five minutes to play in the first half gave the Sycamores a 17-0 lead.
The Skyhawks (1-3) got back into the game on Wahlberg's second TD pass of the day, a 22-yarder to Taurean Stephens to make the score 24-14.
Wahlberg hooked up with Stephens again for a 15-yard score later in the third quarter that closed the gap to 27-21.
But Montfort responded with a 20-yard TD run, and Wahlberg was intercepted twice in the fourth quarter, first by John Jackson and then by Warren English-Malone to halt the rally.
Phillip Johnson was 10-for-19 for 114 yards and a touchdown, and he ran for another for Indiana State.
Stephens caught 12 passes for 163 yards and all three touchdowns from Wahlberg.

DOVER, Del. -- Arkee Whitlock ran for a pair of touchdowns to help Southern Illinois.
He scored on a pair of 2-yard runs. His first put Southern Illinois up 21-0 in the first quarter and the second gave the Salukis (4-0) a 35-0 lead over the Hornets (0-4) just before the half.
Whitlock had 65 yards rushing and Terry Jackson had 93 yards. Jackson scored between Whitlock's two touchdowns on a 6-yard run.
Quarterback Joel Sambursky threw for 142 yards completing eight of 15 attempts and opened the scoring with a 2-yard touchdown midway through the first quarter.
Sambursky was replaced by Jon Cairns who completed six of nine passes for 101 yards, running for one touchdown and throwing for another. Cairns scored on an 11-yard run in the third and completed a 57-yard pass to Quorey Payne to give Southern Illinois its final score with 3:37 left in the third quarter.
Bryan Botts threw for 11 yards for Delaware State replacing starting quarterback Andre Smith, who threw for 91 yards. Smith and Botts were sacked a total of six times.
Rodney Roy had 25 yards rushing for the Hornets, but Delaware State was held to 21 yards rushing.
