Group to deliver church listings

MINERAL RIDGE -- Members of several churches will be walking throughout the community Sunday afternoon to give residents a local church directory.
The special project, Ambassadors for Christ, was formed over the last several months, as representatives from several Mineral Ridge churches have met and worked together. Representatives came from First United Methodist Church, Grace Church of the Nazarene, Mineral Ridge Church of Christ, St. Mary's Catholic Church, and First Presbyterian Church. They created a brochure listing all the churches in Mineral Ridge including church addresses, telephone numbers and worship schedules.
From 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, church members will distribute the brochures along with an invitation to residents to consider attending a community church if they are not doing so already.
Project organizers said the objective is not to recruit members for any particular church, to convert or be intrusive. They said that they simply want to make residents aware of the churches and to let them know that they are welcome. Since those distributing the brochures have a lot of territory to cover, they will not stay or visit, but simply offer a brochure, organizers said.
A brief service will take place at 1:30 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Mineral Ridge. After the walk, there will be a dinner at the church.
