Events to mark RailFest 2004 at Horseshoe Curve



RailFest Weekend is set for Oct. 2-3 at the Museum and Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark in Altoona, Pa.
To make the most of the experience, try an excursion available on the Nittany & amp; Bald Eagle line from Tyrone, Pa. (Blair County) to Port Matilda, Pa. (Centre County).
Tickets are $20 each for historic coach cars, or $40 to ride the No. 1954 Pullman (dining-style car), and $40 to ride the historic PRR Cabin Car (caboose with open porch). Round-trip takes about an hour.
On Saturday, rides are available at 9 and 11:30 a.m. and 2 and 4:30 p.m. Sunday ride hours are 11:30 a.m. and 2 and 4:30 p.m.
All excursion tickets include admission to RailFest 2004 as well as admission to the Museum and Horseshoe Curve National Historic Landmark for the weekend.

Runners, joggers and walkers may call that same number to register for the 5K RailRun set for Sunday morning.
Other events planned are: Richard Sleigh and Joe Filisko's railroad-themed harmonica and acoustic performance; Michael O'Brien Band; Horseshoe Cloggers; and Hollidaysburg Community and Alumni Band performances Saturday in the museum yard.
Food and merchandise vendors and model railroad displays and vendors will be set up in the adjacent Station Mall in Altoona.
The Horn & amp; Whistle Festival will take place at the Landmark all weekend. Shuttle buses will be available between the museum and Horseshoe Curve.
On Saturday, a $6 chicken barbecue will be available at the museum to benefit Family Services of Blair County.
