Mount Union 41, Otterbein 10
WESTERVILLE -- Rick Ciccone ran for two touchdowns and Mount Union's defense chipped in with two scores. Ciccone, who scored on runs of 1 and 4 yards, gained 67 yards on 13 carries for the Purple Raiders (3-0, 2-0 Ohio Conference). Otterbein (1-2, 0-2) was held to 57 rushing yards on 29 attempts. Mike Gibbons returned a fumble 16 yards for one score and Anthony Frate brought an interception back 33 yards for another touchdown. Jeff Strauch, who led all rushers with 87 yards on 18 carries, added a 3-yard touchdown run for the Purple Raiders. Marshall Goodman caught a 4-yard pass from Jared Adkins for the Cardinals' only touchdown. Adkins completed 17 of 37 passes for 156 yards with two interceptions. Mount Union quarterback Zac Bruney hit on 10 of 22 passes for 188 yards with one interception.
Slippery Rock 31, Lock Haven 3
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. -- Josh Kniess rushed 20 times for 121 yards and three touchdowns to lead Slippery Rock. Kneiss scored on runs of 34, 20 and 7 yards for the Rock (3-2, 1-0). After falling behind 14-0 in the second quarter, Lock Haven (1-4, 0-1) got on the board when Danny Hagerman kicked a 35-yard field goal. Corey Manfull (United) carried nine times for 48 yards for the Rock. Nate Crookshank hit on 13 of 18 passes for 144 yards including an 11-yard score to Valdez Hails for Slippery Rock.
Trinity International 23, Walsh 22
NORTH CANTON -- Kevin Oberlande threw a 5-yard touchdown pass to Nathan Endmano with 29 seconds remaining and then ran for the two-point conversion to rally Trinity International. Michael Lum missed a 36-yard field goal with seven seconds to go that would have put Walsh ahead. Oberlande also ran for a TD from seven yards out and threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Travis Tesone as the Trojans (3-0) scored all three of its touchdowns in the fourth quarter. He completed 12 of 20 passes for 208 yards with two interceptions. He also ran 10 times for 29 yards. Dan Kane was 10-of-18 passing for Walsh (3-1) for 216 yards, including touchdown passes of 31 yards to Donel Durham and 48 yards to DanJuan Witcher. Chase Hostetler rushed 40 times for 164 yards and had an 8-yard scoring run in the fourth quarter for the Cavaliers.
Westminster 23, Thomas More 13
CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. -- Scott Froelich rushed for touchdowns covering 1, 14 and 22 yards for the Titans (2-2) who rallied from a 13-7 halftime deficit. George Malactaris (Campbell Memorial) kicked a 28-yard field goal and two conversions to round out the Westminster scoring. Froelich carried 35 times for 186 yards for the Titans. Tyran Thompson carried 17 times for 63 yards for Thomas More (1-3).
Muhlenberg 27, Grove City 3
ALLENTOWN, Pa. -- Nick Rosetti completed just eight passes, but three went for touchdowns. Muhlenberg (3-0) controlled the game defensively, holding Grove City to just 109 yards of total offense and picking up five sacks, three of them by Dan Walker. Grove City (2-2) got its only points on a 28-yard field goal by Matt Campbell. Rosetti threw scoring passes to Jason Spencer, Chris Poehls and Keith Shalvoy, who also ran for a score. Spencer rushed for a career-high 153 yards and Shalvoy added 73 on just 12 carries to Muhlenberg's rushing attack, which gained 249 yards on the ground. Muhlenberg's defense held Grove City to 27 rushing yards on 33 carries.
Thiel 28, Bethany 14
BETHANY, W. Va. -- Stephen Minton ran for 182 yards and defensive back Kennard Davis picked off three passes to lead Thiel in the Presidents' Athletic Conference opener. Bethany (0-3, 0-1) enjoyed its best offensive performance of the season, totaling 409 yards, but the Bison threw four second-half interceptions. Three of those turnovers came inside Thiel territory, spoiling scoring chances for the Bison. Thiel did not turn the ball over once. Nazih Banna (Boardman) finished with 219 yards passing, while freshman Milton Joyner had eight catches for 106 yards. Safety Gary Gerba (Warren) led the Bison defense with 12 tackles.
Wooster 49, Case Reserve 7
WOOSTER -- Tony Sutton rushed for 155 yards and three touchdowns and Keith Adams had a record 194 yards in punt returns to lead Wooster. Sutton carried 17 times, scoring on runs of 14, 9 and 16 yards for the Fighting Scots (3-0), who rushed for 290 yards and picked up 504 yards of total offense. Adams returned nine punts for 194 yards, including a 78-yard return that set up Richie McNally's 15-yard touchdown reception from Justin Schafer. Schafer, who rushed for 63-yard score while gaining 79 yards on three carries, also tossed a 4-yard pass to Tim Slovensky. Alex Harvey completed 11 of 19 passes for 133 yards for Case Reserve (2-2).
Washington & amp; Jefferson 76,Emory & amp; Henry 28
WASHINGTON, Pa. -- Chris Edwards threw four touchdown passes in the first quarter to lead Washington & amp; Jefferson. Edwards completed 7 of 8 passes for 241 yards and connected with four different teammates on touchdown passes. Edwards threw a 29-yard scoring pass to Aaron Krepps one minute into the game, then connected with Jon Miller on an 80-yard scoring strike three minutes later. He also connected with R.J. Zitzelberger on a 14-yard scoring pass, and with Jacob Shields on a 73-yard scoring strike.
Capital 38, Heidelberg 0
TIFFIN -- Rocky Pentello threw three touchdown passes and Capital's defense held Heidelberg to 186 yards. Pentello completed 23 of 37 passes for 282 yards and hit on scoring strikes of 3 yards to Ricky Shafer, 6 yards to Mike Niedzwiecki and 46 yards to Kyle Rankin. Capital (3-0, 2-0 Ohio Conference) also rushed for 233 yards, led by Colin O'Reilly's 73 yards on 13 carries.
Baldwin-Wallace 31, Wilmington 7
WILMINGTON -- Mike Diangelo tossed two touchdown passes and Jake Knipp brought an interception back 40 yards for another score in Baldwin-Wallace's victory. The Yellow Jackets (3-0, 2-0 Ohio Conference) scored three times in the span of 42 seconds of the second quarter to break open a scoreless tie.
