OHIO SENATE DISTRICT Forum to put public education to the test
Legislators and candidates for office will attend.
HOWLAND -- Public education's successes, needs and challenges will be the focus of a community forum from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Howland High School, 200 Shaffer Drive N.E.
The Public Education Matters forum will be one of 33 events held simultaneously throughout Ohio in every Senate District.
Education administrators, employees, parents and other citizens will have the opportunity to express their concerns with area legislators and legislative candidates at the forums.
Forum moderator will be Dr. Robert Beebe of Youngstown State University. Beebe chairs the Department of Educational Administration, Research, and Foundations at YSU.
The following legislators and legislative candidates have committed to attend:
USen. Marc Dann of Liberty, D-32nd.
URep. Dan Sferra of Warren, D-64th.
URep. Sandra Harwood of Niles, D-65th.
URep. George Distel of Conneaut, D-99th.
UGary L. Pasqualone, Republican candidate for 32nd Senate District.
UDon Johnson, Republican candidate for the 65th House District.
The forum is sponsored by the Buckeye Association of School Administrators, the Ohio Association of Elementary School Administrators, the Ohio Association of Secondary School Administrators, the Ohio Association of School Business Officials, the Ohio Education Association, the Ohio Federation of Teachers, the Ohio Parent Teacher Association and the Ohio School Boards Association.
The public is encouraged to attend and participate in the question-and-answer segment of the program.
