VOLLEYBALL Niles upends Ursuline in 4 sets

YOUNGSTOWN -- Ashley Byrom had 20 points and 10 assists as the Niles High volleyball team defeated Ursuline 22-25, 25-17, 25-22, 25-22 in a non-conference match Wednesday.
Amanda Furey added seven kills, Laura Ruberto seven digs and Alyssa Suckow four blocks for the Red Dragons (2-6).
For Ursuline (4-7), Danielle Crafter had nine points and three aces, Jenna Kiraly four assists and Alessandra Parry four kills and two blocks.
Boardman 25-25-25, South Range 12-18-14
BOARDMAN -- April Melquist had 14 kills, eight blocks, 11 points and two aces for the Spartans (4-6). Stacie Wahlman added five kills, two blocks and five digs, and Katie Spatara 27 assists and four digs.
For South Range (2-9), Tara Chizmar had five kills and three blocks and Pam Miller nine assists and 10 digs.
LaBrae 25-25-25, Jackson-Milton 13-13-20
LEAVITTSBURG -- Maddie D'Orio had 13 kills, Lindsey Higgins 17 assists and Stephanie Higgins 14 points for the Vikings (8-4).
For Jackson-Milton (4-6), Megan Whitmer had five points and Laura Yash three kills and five blocks.
Lordstown 25-25-25, Pymatuning Valley 10-15-10
ANDOVER -- The Red Devils (10-0, 7-0) remained unbeaten with a three-game sweep of Py. Valley in a Northeastern Athletic Conference match.
Alycia Israel had 19 points, 16 assists and four blocks for Lordstown, while Samantha Kistler had nine points, two aces, seven kills and five blocks, and Ashley Keller nine points, an ace, three digs, six kills and a block.
