HIGH SCHOOL SOCCER Booth, defenders spearhead Poland to sixth shutout

POLAND -- P.J. Booth scored three goals and an assist Tuesday to lead the Poland High boys soccer team to a 5-0 win over Metro Athletic Conference rival Niles.
Lenny Ligoure and Chris Juchno added goals while Dain Malaniak and Michael Kennedy had assists.
Goalkeeper Caleb Markusic made six saves for the Bulldogs (6-0-2, 3-0-1), who out-shot Niles 16-6.
Red Dragons goalkeeper T.J. Christie made 11 saves.
Canfield 2, Alliance 2
ALLIANCE -- Canfield junior Graham Shryock scored two goals and junior Adam Jones had two assists in the MAC game.
Goalkeeper Mike Musilli made five saves for the Cardinals while Chad Swisher had 22 saves for Alliance.
Howland 3, Salem 1
SALEM -- Mark Hammond scored on a cross from Malik Mohammad 6:45 remaining in the first half. Mike Maiorana scored on a breakaway with 14:30 remaining and netted another with 11 minutes remaining on an assist from Sean Gerin.
Salem's goal came on a penalty kick with 9:20 remaining.
Howland (5-2-1, 3-1-1 MAC) goalkeeper Zack Roscoe made six saves while Salem's Justice Pash made four.
Boardman 5, Canton McKinley 0
CANTON -- Junior Nick Antonucci and senior Jeremy Winters scored two goals each while freshman Sam Regan added one for the Spartans (6-2-2) in a Federal League game.
Winters, Enrique Urrutia and Sam Regan had assists while keeper Frank Dravecky made five saves.
Ursuline 7, Warren Harding 5
STRUTHERS -- Junior Ryan Novotny had a career-high five goals and an assist for the Irish (2-4-2, 2-2-1) in a Steel Valley Conference match.
Sophomore Nick Chaney added two goals, while Chris DePaoloa had two assists. Corey Mihaly, Nick Kovalscik, Jon Eusanino and Tom Metzinger each had one assist while goalkeeper Jared Daly made 10 saves.
For Harding, Dimitri Fournaris and Aaron Elder each scored two goals and Carey Antonio had one. Elder, Antonio and Omar Omar added assists.
Crestview 2, United 2
COLUMBIANA -- Austin Dangler scored two goals for United, while James Frost and Daniel Jones scored for Crestview in a Tri-County League game.
Ben Taylor and Travis Bailey had assists for United (3-4-1, 2-0-1). Goalkeeper Spencer Widlicka made seven saves. Dennis Twaddle added an assist for the Rebels (3-4-3, 0-0-3). Adam Corll made 12 saves.
Girls
STRUTHERS -- Kelli Willis had two goals and an assist as Mooney stayed unbeaten with a 5-0 win over Ursuline in a Steel Valley Conference match.
Mimi Vitello, Vickie Dreiling and Nomiki Frangopoulos added goals for Mooney (7-0-1, 3-0) while Marisa Simon, Sarah Garchar and Kelly Burke had assists. Goalkeepers Veronica Skowron and Natalie Humphreys combined on the shutout.
Ursuline goalkeeper Jolanta Karkido made 10 saves.
