MAHONING COUNTY Sen. John Edwards' wife to speak about health issues at local center

YOUNGSTOWN -- Elizabeth Edwards, wife of U.S. Sen. John Edwards, the Democratic vice presidential nominee, will speak at the Youngstown Community Health Center, 726 Wick Ave., at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday to discuss health issues.
This will be a closed session with press and invited guests only because of space limitations, said Dr. Ronald Dwinnells, chief executive officer of Ohio North East Health Systems, parent organization of community health centers in Youngstown, Warren and Alliance.
"I believe this event is another example of how well our Community Health Centers perform and the credible reputation they have in providing health care delivery to the medically uninsured and underinsured in this country. Indeed, this is a nonpartisan issue with bipartisan support for all of our community health centers.
Mrs. Edwards will address the specific challenges families and seniors face under the Bush administration and explain how the Kerry-Edwards health care plan will save families and employers money, according to campaign officials.
The health center has played a prominent role in the presidential election before.
President Bush held a townhall-style forum May 25 at Youngstown State University with officials, employees and patients of the facility. During his discussion, Bush praised the agency, and called it a local success story.
