Swimmers raise $15,300 for cancer programs



CANFIELD -- The American Cancer Society netted about $15,300 in the Swim Along Campaign this summer in which youths age 3 through 17 participated at 10 local swim clubs and pools.
They raised money by getting sponsors for swimming laps. The swim clubs also held individual swim parties and events to help their children's fund-raising efforts.
Participating swim clubs, and the amounts of money they raised, are:
UPoland Swim Club, $3,162.
UCanfield Swim Club, $2,598.
UFirestone Swim Club, $2,139.
UTrumbull Country Club, $1,830.
UBoardman Swim Club, $1,793.
UApplewood Swim Club, $1,394.
UWarren Olympic Swim Club, $1,364.
ULogan Swim Club, $1,235.
UTippecanoe Country Club, $541.
UCamp Rachel, $354.
Proceeds from Swim-along and other events are used by the American Cancer Society for education, advocacy, cancer research and services to cancer patients in the local community.
The chairman of this year's event was Carlo Cordon, swim coach at Applewood Swim Club.
