SOAP SCOOP Daytime TV news
SIERRA BECOMES A CONTRACT ROLE: Rather than let actress Mary Beth Evans depart for a new role on & quot;One Life to Live, & quot; & quot;As the World Turns & quot; offered her a contract to remain with the show as Sierra Montgomery. Evans has consequently opted to stay with the series and expects to see big things happening for Sierra in the months to come, a situation that hasn't existed for her character in years. Meanwhile, without a storyline to support them, both Real Andrews (Walker) and McKenzie Satterthwaite (Nikki) will be bumped from & quot;ATWT. & quot;
BUMPY ROMANCE: The road to marriage for Sami and Lucas on & quot;Days of our Lives & quot; will definitely hit some snags, as Brandon is coming back to town for an undisclosed amount of time. Matt Cedeno reprises his role starting Oct. 18, probably very close to a certain wedding date. Beginning Oct. 13, Justin Melvey returns to & quot;Days & quot; as Colin Murphy. He will appear only for a few episodes, hopefully long enough to clarify whether his character of Colin is truly dead.
THE BEST OF THE LOT: Congratulations to & quot;Passions & quot; on its third win as best daytime drama at the Imagen Awards, celebrating the portrayal of Latino culture in the entertainment industry. In keeping with their roster of renowned Latin actresses, Rebecca Jones is now playing Pilar's childhood friend, Tia Lola, on & quot;Passions. & quot; The actress has starred in a number of telenovelas. On Friday, Oct. 15, Victoria Gotti is set to make her second appearance on & quot;Passions. & quot; First time out she was a talk show host. Now, she's set to play a nurse.
RETURNING: David Fumero is coming back to & quot;One Life to Live & quot; this fall, in the role of Cristian. The actor left the show last fall. No word on what direction this year's storyline will take.
