Second Chance Animal Rescue plans walk



Proceeds will benefit abandoned and abused animals.
BOARDMAN -- Second Chance Animal Rescue will sponsor its fourth annual Four-Paws-A-Thon from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Chester Long Pavilion in Boardman Township Park.
Schedule
The schedule of events is as follows:
U9:30 to 10 a.m., registration at a cost of $15. There also will be a bake sale.
U10 to 11 a.m., two-mile walk. Participants may walk the entire distance or part of it.
U11 to 11:30 a.m., dog training demonstration.
U11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., contests with prizes awarded for first, second and third places for the fairest of all, most handsome prince, best trick, waggiest tail and best costume.
Prizes also will be awarded to the person and pet who have the most pledges. Participants should take their pledges to the event. All entries will receive a goodie bag.
Laurie Lehosky of WFMJ-Channel 21, Youngstown, will be host of the event.
Rules of the event
Rules to participate are:
UParticipants must have proof of rabies vaccination along with veterinarian's name.
UParticipants must have their dogs on leashes but no retractables.
UNo female dogs in any stage of heat will be allowed to participate.
USecond Chance reserves the right to refuse entry to any dog that may be hazardous to others or whose physical condition appears to be in jeopardy before or during the walk.
UParticipants may walk more than one dog but each must be registered and on a leash.
U Owners are responsible for cleaning up after their dogs.
Refreshments will be available.

Second Chance Animal Rescue is a nonprofit organization staffed by volunteers. The group's focus is kittens and cats, with its mission being to provide care and rehabilitation (including spaying and neutering) for abandoned, abused and injured animals. The rescue organization also provides a nurturing environment for animals while they await adoption.
