Mooney girls remain unbeaten



STRUTHERS -- The Cardinal Mooney High girls soccer team took a 3-1 lead at the half Saturday and went on to beat West Branch, 4-1.
Paige Stryffeler's free kick from 20 yards out gave the Warriors (3-5) a 1-0 lead.
Kelli Willis scored two goals while Mimi Vitello and Marisa Simon had one apiece for the Cardinals (6-0-1). Simon, Willis and Nomiki Frangopoulos had assists.
Warriors goalkeeper Carlie Poffenberger made 10 saves while Mooney goalkeepers Veronica Skowron and Natalie Humphreys combined for two saves from three shots.

RAVENNA -- Melissa Thiry scorded for the Tigers (3-4-2) on an assist by Bethany Runtas. Goalkeeper Grace Spletzer made four saves.
Stephanie Lee scored for the Pirates on Katie Dubinsky's setup. Goalkeeper Theresa Strebler made seven saves.

MINERVA -- Eric Werrick scored twice and Clay Becker had the other goal as Minerva (5-2) defeated Crestview, 3-0.
The Rebels (3-4-2) fell behind 2-0 at the break and never recovered.
