Fitch defeats Ellet; Mooney girls win, 4-1

The Boardman boys team shut out New Philadelphia.
AUSTINTOWN -- Brad Hrinko and Andrew Fontanarosa scored two goals apiece Saturday as the Austintown Fitch High boys soccer team defeated Akron Ellet, 4-2.
Anthony Colaluca had two assists and Hrinko had one for the Falcons (2-4-2). Goalkeeper Brent Sopko made six saves.
For Ellet (5-2-1), Peter Knezevic and Navid Petterson scored goals. Goalkeeper Nick Thompson made six saves.
Boardman 2, New Philadelphia 0
BOARDMAN -- Nick Antonucci and Kevin Thompson scored for the Spartans (5-2-2) and Sam Stoll earned an assist. Goalkeeper Rob Rinninger made three saves.
Minerva 3, Crestview 0
MINERVA -- Eric Werrick scored twice and Clay Becker had the other goal as Minerva (5-2) defeated Crestview, 3-0.
The Rebels (3-4-2) fell behind 2-0 at the break and never recovered.

STRUTHERS -- The Cardinal Mooney High girls soccer team took a 3-1 lead at the half and went on to beat West Branch, 4-1.
Paige Stryffeler's free kick from 20 yards out gave the Warriors (3-5) a 1-0 lead.
Kelli Willis scored two goals while Mimi Vitello and Marisa Simon had one apiece for the Cardinals (6-0-1). Simon, Willis and Nomiki Frangopoulos had assists.
Warriors goalkeeper Carlie Poffenberger made 10 saves while Mooney goalkeepers Veronica Skowron and Natalie Humphreys combined for two saves from three shots.
Fitch 3, Akron St. V 0
AUSTINTOWN -- Jodi Bowlen had a goal and assist while Brittney Getz and Amanda Sprowl added a goal apiece to spark Austintown Fitch past Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary. Goalie Cara Calai had eight saves for the Falcons (4-2-3). St. V's (6-3) goalie Michelle Zrebiec had five saves.
Boardman 5, Hickory 0
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- Lauren Sirak netted a hat trick while Cecilia Velazquez and Jessica Winters scored the Spartans' other goals.
Katie Stoll earned two assists while Mackenzie Burkhardt, Caitlyn Hackett and Alex Lynch had one each. Goalkeeper Lani Vlad made six saves for Boardman (3-5).
Canfield 3, Salem 1
CANFIELD -- Liz Vernal scored two goals and Callie Carrerra netted the other for the Cardianls (4-2, 2-1 Metro Athletic Conference). Earning assists were Nikki Sorice and Bre DeMocko. Goalkeeper Ashley Conti made 10 saves.
Ashley Shea scored Salem's goal.
Newton Falls 1, Southeast 1
RAVENNA -- Melissa Thiry scorded for the Tigers (3-4-2) on an assist by Bethany Runtas. Goalkeeper Grace Spletzer made four saves.
Stephanie Lee scored for the Pirates on Katie Dubinsky's setup. Goalkeeper Theresa Strebler made seven saves.
Maplewood 1, Edgewood 1
ASHTABULA -- Leah Dean scored for the Rockets (3-4-1) on an assist by Tori Spencer. Goalkeeper Bonnee Clute made 10 saves.
For Edgewood, Christy Carpenter scored on an assist by Maureen Cerni. Goalkeeper Kayleigh James made 13 saves.
