Allen's 230 yards lead Ursuline's 27-13 win



Lakeview defeated Girard; Southington's Zack Stalnaker scored three touchdowns.
YOUNGSTOWN -- Alex Allen rushed for 230 yards on 33 carries to lead the Ursuline High football team to a 27-13 win over Pittsburgh Perry Academy Saturday at Stambaugh Stadium.
After Jerome Jones' 35-yard interception return put the Irish (3-1) ahead 7-0, Allen scored on a 3-yard run. Allen also caught a 33-yard touchdown pass from Scooter Hargate.
Quarterback Derrick Stewart connected with Matt Tynal for a 42-yard touchdown pass for Ursuline's other points.
Lakeview 21,Girard 18
GIRARD -- Girard quarterback Bobby Ovesny completed 26 of 35 for 260 yards but threw three interceptions in the Indians' first loss.
Ovesny scored on a 7-yard run and threw a 36-yard touchdown to Mark Fiest. Brett Dutton scored Girard's other points on a 1 yard run. For the Indians (3-1, 0-1 Trumbull Athletic Conference), Brian Tolone had 12 catches for 109 yards and Ryan Collins had nine for 99 yards.
For the Bulldogs (3-1, 1-0), quarterback Kevin Albert scored on a 12-yard run and hit Trevor Matthews for a 22-yard touchdown. Matt Kohuth scored on a 2-yard run.

Sebring 0
LEETONIA -- Aaron Merrill scored two rushing touchdowns and caught a scoring pass from Andy Kisner to become the Bears' all-time leading scorer.
Leetonia is 3-1, 1-0 Tri-County League. Sebring is 0-4, 0-1.
United 20,
East Palestine 13
HANOVERTON -- Brian Phillips found Bubba Taylor for two short touchdown passes to lead United (1-3, 1-0 TCL).
Scott Martin rushed for an 82-yard touchdown in the third quarter to put United in front, 12-7.
Phillips hit on 6 of 16 passes for 27 yards and Taylor had four receptions for 22 yards.
Martin carried 16 times for 122 yards. For the Bulldogs (1-3, 0-1), Zac Dunn scored on runs of 40 and 15 yards. Dunn finished with 49 yards on 10 carries.
Ashtabula SJP 32,Youngstown Christian 13
ASHTABULA -- The Eagles (0-3) fell behind 26-0 after three quarters then put two fourth-quarter touchdowns on the board.
A. J. Tate ran for a 1-yard score, followed by a 70-yard interception for a tally by Jared VanArsdale for the Eagles.
VanArsdale had two pass interceptions.
Southington 44,Ledgemont 7
SOUTHINGTON -- Zack Stalnaker scored three times while Tom Harkelrode scored twice for Southington (2-2, 1-0) which found the end zone seven times before Ledgemont got on the board in the East Suburban Conference game.
Southington finished with 283 yards rushing and 68 passing.
Stalnaker, a senior tailback, carried 10 times for 132 yards, while Harkelrode, a junior tailback, picked up 68 yards on nine attempts.
J.P. Barco caught two passes from Jimmy Bauger, including one for a 38-yard tally. Barco's two receptions totaled 68 yards -- the numbers credited to Bauger on three attempts. The senior quarterback had no pickoffs
Also crossing the goal line for the Wildcats was Justin Kren, a fullback who finished with 45 yards on six carries.
Freshman Donnie Munger carried the ball 14 times for 52 yards.
Southington's Jim Wolke is in his second season coaching a second time around.
